Audio On What to Do When You Hit Rock Bottom Contributed by Our Friends at Goalcast
In today's episode of 7 Good Minutes, we listen in as Jordan Belfort talks about how to turn your life around when you hit rock bottom.
It’s not easy to turn your life around when you are stuck in a deep, dark hole.
Whether it’s because of an addiction, depression, or any other situation that has caused you to feel hopeless, it can feel overwhelming and impossible to find your way back up. But if you want a better life for yourself, there are some steps that you can take to get back on the right track.
Here are some tips for how to turn your life around when you hit rock bottom.
Surround Yourself With Supportive People
When everything feels like it's coming down around you, one of the best things that you can do is surround yourself with positive people who can support and encourage you. This could be friends or family members who have been through difficult times before and found their way out.
Or it could be counselors or other professionals who are trained in helping people who are struggling. Having supportive people in your corner can help keep you motivated and remind you that change is possible.
Take Small Steps Toward Your Goals
The road to recovery isn't an overnight journey.
It's a gradual process that will require patience and dedication from you. The key is taking small steps in the right direction every day instead of trying to make massive changes all at once.
Make a list of achievable goals that will lead toward the bigger picture goal of turning your life around, and commit to completing them each day as part of your self-care routine.
This could involve anything from attending daily therapy sessions or meetings with sponsors to writing in a journal or exercising every morning. No matter what those smaller goals may be, they'll help get you closer to making lasting changes in your life.
Focus on Self-Care
Self-care should be an integral part of any journey toward recovery; without taking care of yourself mentally and physically, it's much harder to make positive changes in your life.
Take time each day, even if it's just 10 minutes, to do something nurturing for yourself, like reading a book or listening to music that makes you feel uplifted and empowered. You could also try meditating or yoga.
Both activities have proven benefits when it comes to relieving stress and anxiety, as well as providing clarity about where you're going next with your life journey.
It’s never easy hitting rock bottom, but if there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that no matter how far down the rabbit hole goes, there is always hope for getting back up again.
By surrounding yourself with supportive people, breaking down big dreams into achievable goals, and focusing on self-care practices like meditation and yoga, you can make real change happen within yourself so that, eventually, even rock bottom won’t seem so bad anymore.
With commitment and hard work, anything is possible, so stay strong.
