Audio On Characteristics and Traits of A Confident Person Contributed by Our Friends at TopThink
In today's episode of 7 Good Minutes, we talk about identifying the Characteristics and Traits of A Confident Person.
We all know confident people when we see them. They walk into a room and command attention. They speak with authority and conviction. They don’t shy away from obstacles or challenges.
So, what separates the confident from the not-so-confident? Below are five key traits of confident people.
1. They Set Goals and Work Hard to Achieve Them
Confident people are goal-oriented. They set their sights on what they want to achieve and work diligently until they reach their target. And even when they don’t quite hit the mark, they don’t dwell on their failure but instead, learn from it and move on.
2. They Don’t Compare Themselves to Others
One of the surest ways to kill your confidence is to compare yourself to others. There will always be someone who is smarter, prettier, wealthier, or more successful than you are and that’s okay. confident people embrace their own unique qualities and talents and leave comparisons to others.
3. They Are Assertive
Confident people know what they want and aren’t afraid to go after it. They aren’t doormats who let others walk all over them; rather, they stand up for themselves and their beliefs. Assertiveness isn’t about being aggressive, it’s about being firm in your convictions while respecting the rights of others.
4. They Have a Positive Attitude
People who are pessimistic and expect the worst out of every situation tend not to be as self-assured as those with a more positive outlook on life. Confident people see the glass as half full instead of half empty and that positivity radiates outward, drawing others in.
5. They Take Risks
Playing it safe all the time won’t get you very far in life confident people know this and are willing to take risks, even if there’s a chance of failure involved. Of course, taking risks doesn’t mean being careless or impulsive.
Rather, it means having faith in yourself and your abilities and being willing to step outside of your comfort zone from time to time.
Are you looking to boost your confidence? Start by emulating the traits of confident people. Set goals for yourself, avoid comparing yourself to others, adopt a positive attitude, be assertive, and take risks you may be surprised at how quickly your confidence begins to skyrocket.
