In today's episode of 7 Good Minutes, we get some great tips on How To Stay Focused And Productive In A Distracting World.
Staying focused can be tough. You’re constantly bombarded with distractions and it can be hard to stay on task. But there are a few things you can do to stay focused and productive.
1) Change your environment
If you’re finding it hard to focus, sometimes all you need is a change of scenery. If you’ve been working at the same desk for hours, try getting up and moving to another room or even going outside. Sometimes all it takes is a little change to jump-start your brain and help you focus on the task at hand.
2) Break down your tasks
If you have a big project that’s due soon, it can be helpful to break it down into smaller tasks. That way, you can work on one thing at a time and not feel so overwhelmed. Make a list of everything you need to do and then tackle each task one by one.
As you check things off your list, you’ll feel more motivated and focused.
3) Set a timer
Sometimes, all you need is some structure to stay focused. If you have trouble focusing for long periods of time, try setting a timer for 20 minutes and working on one task until the timer goes off. Once the timer goes off, take a 5-minute break and then start the timer again.
This method is called the Pomodoro Technique and it can be really helpful in keeping you on track.
4) Get rid of distractions
This one might seem obvious, but it’s important to get rid of anything that might distract you from your work. So turn off your phone, close social media tabs, and find a quiet place to work if possible. It might take some effort to avoid distractions, but it’ll be worth it when you can focus on your work and get things done more quickly.
Staying focused can be tough but it’s important if you want to be productive. There are a few things you can do to stay focused including changing your environment, breaking down your tasks, setting a timer, and getting rid of distractions.
By using some or all of these methods, you’ll be able to stay focused and get more done in less time!
