In today's episode of 7 Good Minutes, we learn How To Control Your Thoughts.
Our thoughts influence everything we do. They impact our mood, our behavior, and our decision-making. So it stands to reason that if we can learn to control our thoughts, we can improve our lives in a number of ways. Here are three ways to take control of your thoughts and start living a better life today.
Be aware of your negative thoughts
The first step to taking control of your thoughts is becoming aware of the negative ones. We all have them from time to time, but if you find yourself dwelling on negative thoughts more often than not, it's time to take action. One way to do this is to keep a journal and write down your negative thoughts as they come to you.
This will help you become more aware of the patterns in your thinking so that you can begin to address them.
Practice positive self-talk
Negative thoughts breed negative emotions, which can lead to negative behaviors. So one of the best ways to take control of your thoughts is to practice positive self-talk. This means speaking kindly and respectfully to yourself, even when you make mistakes.
It means acknowledging your accomplishments and remembering your strengths when you're feeling down about yourself. It may seem difficult at first, but with practice, it will become second nature.
Challenge your beliefs
Our beliefs shape our thoughts, so another way to take control of your thoughts is to challenge the beliefs that are fueling them. If you find yourself thinking negative thoughts about yourself or your life, ask yourself where those beliefs came from.
Are they based on facts or on feelings? Are they helpful or harmful? Once you've identified the beliefs that are driving your negative thinking, you can begin to change them into something more positive and productive.
Our thoughts play a major role in our lives, so it's important that we learn how to control them. By being aware of our negative thoughts, practicing positive self-talk, and challenging our beliefs, we can take control of our thoughts and improve our lives in the process. Give it a try today!
